Dave Palmer is a film & TV composer, producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, musical director, and arranger.
Notable credits include film and television work such as co-composing the score for the critically acclaimed and Oscar winning film Beginners, as well as playing piano on the original works. Recent projects include scoring the new comedy Loudermilk for the shows creators Peter Farrelly and Bobby Mort. Also for Peter Farrelly, Dave scored the new series The Now for short form streaming platform Quibi. He’s also scored films for acclaimed documentary filmmaker Dana Brown (On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter and Dust to Glory 2). His jazz project The Duo Trio with renowned drummer Jay Bellerose is one of several ongoing personal projects. He has also been a staple musician for the eclectic composer Brian Reitzell and played on and co-composed scores for the films Red Riding Hood, 30 Days of Night, Friday Night Lights, Stranger Than Fiction, Goats, Boss, The Brothers Bloom and NBC's Hannibal. His work with De La Soul led to a 2016 Grammy nomination for their album And the Anonymous Nobody.
Dave began playing music professionally at the age of seventeen. His diverse and fascinating career was sparked in the clubs of Norfolk, Virginia and Dallas, Texas. He graduated from the University of North Texas then set off to the west coast via Seattle and San Francisco which led to the studio and concert landscape of Los Angeles.
He’s worked with a vast array of artists as a touring musician, pianist, keyboardist, producer, co-writer, musical director and arranger.
